Yes, it's Cesar E. Chavez day. Even better! It's Cesar E. Chavez month! (Stay tuned for my response on the myth of Cesar Chavez.) I'm sure the immigration panels are going to be completely academic and unbiased. Because we expect nothing less.

Good point, but perhaps you could have broadened your post title to "Is this really necessary?" The answer is still no. No matter how much white guilt you can muster, nobody gets a month. Nobody.
si se puede, charles, si se puede! j/k. during my senior year religion in american politics class at CMC, I found out that while Chavez had catholic roots, he strayed into some odd mysticism practices and his religious makeup bordered on bizarre. Not the best of role models, though not the worst either.
And the dummy of Albany, lil' deputy of Wall Street, Mr. Spitzer obviously should resign. Hows that for an Ivy League education eh? Those blue bloods.
I don't really understand why you think this is your money. CMC is a private college. Even if you are paying full tuition you aren't even covering the full cost of your education. Funds from other sources, including the endowment, cover the difference. Moreover, I especially don't understand your objection to those events on this list which are not being held at CMC, because there is no way you could have any kind of claim on Pomona's money, or Pitzer's money, or Scripps's money. Only 2 of these 18 events are at CMC.

Nicholas:
Read: 'Our Money'.
But you're right, Pomona College's apathetic community has the right to find out what happens to money when combined with fire. Such a wasteful set of events almost seems well researched! I wonder what the alternatives were.
Personally, I mind even those two events being held at CMC. Its frustrating to see our school go from nyah to nyah. It happened to the University of Chicago way back in the day and its happening to us. Reason, logic and fact are being sidelined for rhetoric and propaganda.
But thank you for organizing such events. They can be recorded as the decline of CMC's beautiful and sincere foundations. Its difficult having informed opinions without flashy slogans and fists. We had a good run.
Well, this whole month seems to be flowing rather nicely. There have been many events on that list that i have attended, that my friends have attended, and my family. Too bad your childish complaints did not halt the festivities. You missed out on a lot of fun too.
Peace out.
Make an argument, not an insult.
No one is disputing that special privileges aren't fun for those who are intended to receive them.
