The Obligatory How-Much-CMC-Administrators-Make Post

John Faranda '79 is worthy every penny

Our friends at The Claremont Insider are still digging into those 990 tax files and surprise, surprise, they have come to dust off Claremont McKenna's 2005 and 2006 records.

There aren't too many shocks. Except for one.

John P. Faranda, VP, Alumni Relations is only paid $155,018 with an employee benefit plan of $20,601. I find that he's getting paid far too little.

John Faranda is Mr. C.M.C. Whenever I think about a living administrator who I think embodies the spirit, the past, and the hopes of Claremont McKenna, I think of Mr. Faranda. He's effectively ambassador to the past and one of the first faces future CMCers see. He's one of our best assets, hands down.

As an aside, I have to wonder about what exactly a VP, Student Affairs does. Would anyone care to explain it to me?

Charles is probably right on the money, again, on Faranda's pay scale. Not only is the man appropriately titled Mr. CMC, he probably brings in many times his salary in donations from alums simply because he heads up the alumni relations and giving offices. I for one had a great experience sailing with his PE class on Newport Bay my junior year, and urge any one reading this to get in on the wait list now for fun times in your future CMC career! Hopefully it is many years before Mr. Faranda retires.
