The figures for Pomona's endowment have been released, according to the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin.
Pomona College has a $1 billion-plus endowment, but that doesn't guarantee success, campus officials said."It's not the size of the endowment but what we're able to do with it," said Karen Sisson, vice president and treasurer of Pomona College.
The Chronicle of Higher Education recently listed Pomona College's $1.76 billion endowment as tied for the nation's 38th largest with the University of Rochester and the University of Toronto.
Harvard is first on the list with a $34.6 billion endowment, and Yale is second with $22.5 billion.
Pomona College's endowment amounts to $1.15 million per student, using the 2007 enrollment.
Sisson said "because of the size of the endowment, we're able to provide full aid to students and continuously improve academic programs."
Sisson said the endowment "represents gifts made by multiple generations of alumni. The purpose is to generate income so we can be equitable across generations."
Hardly. Pomona doesn't offer need blind financial aid to international students, but it does for illegal immigrants. I guess this is how they see international students.

Actually, Pomona does offer financial aid to international students. I attended 4 years on a full need based ride, as do at least 5-6 international students every year. Yes its not need blind (i,.e much harder to get in if you ask for aid), but I think the list of US institutions that do offer need-based aid to us internationals includes Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Williams and Amherst. Maybe another Ivy in there.
