We can do better than thisI am really disappointed that ASCMC would bring Daniel Tosh to do his comedy this October 3.
He just isn't funny, but that isn't the only reason. He's offensive and disgusting. And now it isn't just the copious amounts of fart noises,
Let's go down the list, shall we? (You can watch them all by clicking on the links.)
- He says that the reason all the people in Nebraska are fat so that they won't be picked up in a tornado.
- He insults homosexuals, the homeless, and "midgets" in this routine, suggesting that midgets aren't real people and that they are responsible for the election of President Bush.
- He refers to women as bitches and wants to look at their "snatch." And then insults lesbians (at about 4:10 minute onwards).
- He says some rather suggestive and disgusting things about Asian women (start listening at 6:03).
- He goes after ethnic stereotypes at every possible bit.
- He compared President Bush to a retarded child (listen at 3:00ish)
- He says disgusting things about Asian women and masturbating.
- He then goes on to call women "whores" and "stupid" and encourages women to get "boob jobs."

Don't get your panties in a twist Charles. He's a COMEDIAN. That means he writes and performs jokes for a living. If you don't like his brand of humor, so be it, don't go to his show. But other people might actually have a sense of humor and find his comedy funny.

more than half the school is already expected to attend the event on october 3rd, so it seems you're in the minority in yet another way.
also, everything ascmc does isn't "subsidized by student fees." ascmc is charging for tickets to tosh's appearance and expecting to earn a profit.
Daniel Tosh is hilarious. If you could parse through his dirty language to the satire and wit, you might understand.
It's ok though. Jokes can be hard.
Tell me, is humorlessness a prequisite for conservatism, or does it just help?

By the way, I know humor is subjective.
But, I regularly frequent comedy clubs. I listen to hours of standup a week. And not just good people; awful people. People who offend me. People who I don't find funny at all.
Believe me when I say Daniel Tosh can craft a joke. You might not like it, but to say he "just isn't funny" is categorically wrong.
If you like, I can go down a list of Daniel Tosh quotes and explain why they're funny, but I hope you'll realize the error of your ways and understand that's not needed.
By the way, you "can do better"? Seriously, who could you get right now that's more on top of their standup game than Daniel Tosh, dirty or clean?
If you get all your humor from empty political rhetoric, I imagine you're not much fun to be around.

Yeah, Daniel Tosh could offend some people. Just as we should extend him the freedom of speech to amuse and titillate, we should extend those same freedoms to paid speakers of different political and social ideologies.

Alonzo Bodden is much funnier. There are funnier people out there than Daniel Tosh. I could go on and on on this point. He's not very sophisticated humor at all. He's obvious and panders to an audience that doesn't have any common sense.
Oh give me a break, CJ. He's not a speaker. He's a performer. He does comedy. He's not coming to speak about politics, economics, or any other relevant topic. He's coming to give a stand-up comedy performance! And while his comedy routine may be offensive, that's about where the controversy stops. That being opposed to the controversy concerning Karl Rove.

it's offered at $5 to cmc students and $12 to outsiders. basically, the outsiders are "subsidizing" our tickets, provided enough tickets are sold (and again, about half the school has already bought tickets).

I know of what I speak, Azn lesbian chica. We are paying a lower price because they promised him a certain portion of the revenue ahead of time, before students had bought tickets. Do you really think that the cost is only 5 dollars for stand up comedy? Look at what he typically charges.
